Ebay find: Pretty Knobs

I've been scouring the pages of Ebay searching for the perfect knobs for a certain piece of furniture I've recently finished up. A friend gave me this old blackwood sideboard which belonged to his Mother. She had it sitting in her garage for years collecting dust. It was probably a really beautiful piece one day long ago, but with severe water damage, I really believe it was unsalvageable as a timber piece.

Here are some before photos:

After painting this piece I realized it would need brass handles to match the little keyholes. I was a little apprehensive because I'm not too into the look of brass hardware. So When I found these pretty little knobs, I was ecstatic! I bought a whole bunch from an eBay seller in LA and they are en route to Melbourne as we speak. I stocked up on the pewter version as well because they are just too cute. I got a few for free as well because apparenlty the brass ones were listed as having a bigger diameter than they really did. The seller decided to either refund my money or give me 8 free knobs. I went with the latter. Score!

When the knobs arrive and I get the whole thing together, I will post 'After' photos.

  1. That is such a great piece of furniture - can't wait to see the finished product! And great score with the knobs - it seems like there is a distinct lack of stylish and affordable options for knobs in Aus :( xx Jac

  2. It sure is tough to find nice, affordable knobs here. I'm sure there's someplace, somewhere, in some random suburb with a great selection ...but finding such places in Melbourne is like trying to find a needle in a haystack!
